GMS field surveyors inspect the cargo prior to its loading by the sea carrier.
All damages / deficiencies are recorded in our own specific forms and later
on are entered in reports which describe the cargo’s actual condition
before being loaded.
In unloading operations, reports are submitted to determine the responsibilities to be attributed to the parties as well as to ascertain the approximate costs of repairs / replacements of the damaged cargo and the suggested steps to prevent the damages.
The reports can be forwarded in Portuguese or English, illustrated by photos, graphs and statistics, whenever required.
In addition to its usual works in loading and discharging of general cargoes,
GMS created a department that gives assistance to operations of “heavy
lift” cargoes on roll-on/roll-off - lift-on/lift-off operations. We
have successfully participated in projects to safe delivery of special imported/exported
equipment, as large engines, electric transformers, locomotives and general
project cargo, carried by road trucks, ship and fluvial barge, even where
no port facilities are available.
The challenge and the enthusiasm that come from these operations made us to
create GMS’s Heavy Lift Cargo Department.
In what concerns surveys in imported and exported vehicles, we have worked
for a long time for K. Line, SANAVE, Grimaldi SPA (Genova) and Grimaldi Group
(Naples) which trade a great deal of cars in the South American region.
For this purpose we have specialised personnel that are trained to determine
damages in the cars in transit.
